Job description
Therapy Assistant Practitioner – Complex Rehab (Band 4) at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (Liverpool, L14) offers a permanent, full‑time role (37.5 hours, currently Mon–Fri 08:00–16:00) with inclusion on a Saturday rehabilitation rota. You will support physiotherapy and work closely with occupational therapy to assess, treat and plan discharge for inpatients with complex needs — including post‑stroke and hypoxic brain injury — as well as medical and surgical patients across the Trust. The post sits within an NHS specialist Trust rated ‘outstanding’, pays £27,485–£30,162 (Agenda for Change Band 4), and comes with competency‑based training, regular supervision and clear development opportunities for assistant practitioners and experienced therapy assistants.
This role is ideal for compassionate carers who want to translate hands‑on caring skills into clinical rehabilitation work. You’ll need healthcare or therapy assistant experience, the ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, good communication and teaching skills for patients and families, and relevant NVQ qualifications (Level IV or Level III plus additional short course); an Assistant Practitioner qualification is desirable. The team is welcoming and supportive, with wellbeing initiatives, social events and flexible working available across a large, research‑led specialist centre. Please note this vacancy is open only to employees of the five LAASP partner organisations (Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, The Clatterbridge Centre, Liverpool University Hospitals, Liverpool Women’s Hospital or The Walton Centre).
