Job description
Step into a hands-on Therapy Assistant Practitioner role at Milton Keynes University Hospital (Band 4) supporting inpatient rehabilitation across Trauma & Orthopaedics or Stroke. You will manage an appropriately delegated caseload—carrying out assessments, planning and progressing treatment programmes, supporting discharges and helping patients regain independence for home. The post is 37.5 hours per week (fixed-term, 9 months, pro rata if part-time) with opportunities for flexible working; the stroke and orthopaedic services operate across seven days so weekend shifts are part of the rota (paid as additional hours once competencies are met). This is a team-based role working alongside physiotherapists and occupational therapists, supervising therapy assistants and students where needed, and contributing to audits, outcome measurement and ongoing service development.
This role is ideal for experienced carers and women looking to develop clinically and professionally within a supportive NHS environment—previous health or social care experience in rehabilitation is essential and a Level 5 assistant practitioner qualification (or similar) is required. You’ll be encouraged to build a CPD portfolio, take part in training, and enjoy a warm, collaborative culture at a University Teaching Hospital rated Good by the CQC, with clear opportunities for growth as services expand. The vacancy is listed on jobsincare.com; to apply, please click the "Apply Now" button that appears alongside this description.
