Here at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust we have an exciting opportunity for an 18-month fixed term full-time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme developed by the National School of Healthcare Science and funded by Health Education England.

Successful candidates will be trained to BSE accreditation level 2 and will be awarded a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography. The hospital serves a population of approximately 300,000 plus another 100,000 at any one time during the summer holiday season.

The Torbay Cardiac Centre was open in 20with two modern Cardiac Cath labs which were updated in 2providing both elective and non-elective procedures. We offer a 24/7 primary PCI service with the ability to perform rotablation, IVUS, pressure wires and intra-aortic balloon pumps, as well as brady and complex pacing.

There is an 8 bedded coronary care unit, 8 bedded chest pain unit and 14 bedded cardiology wards in this busy and expanding cardiac centre. We currently have 6 interventional cardiologists and 5 non-interventional cardiologists with a view to expanding to allow 7 days working.

The Echocardiography team consists of seven BSE accredited Sonographers. The team complete around 10000 scans per year on a mixture of Inpatients and Outpatients. The Team provides several complex services including Stress and contrast Echo and Physiologist led TOE’s.
