As a Trauma & Orthopaedics Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) with University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust based at Poole Hospital (BH15), you'll work under the supervision of registered clinicians to deliver dignified, compassionate care on orthopaedic wards. The role is permanent with full- and part-time hours available and requires flexibility across day, night, weekend and bank‑holiday shifts. Duties include supporting patients of all ages, maintaining accurate documentation and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The post is advertised at Band 3, but applicants without Care Certificate competencies will initially be employed at Band 2; holders of a Care Certificate will start at Band 3. Salary is between £24,465 and £26,598 pro rata. Please note a Disclosure and Barring Service check is required and sponsorship is not offered.

This opportunity is well suited to caring, organised people — particularly women balancing family or caring responsibilities — who want hands‑on patient contact with clear support to develop. The Trust provides a bespoke induction, mentorship on the wards, help to complete the Care Certificate and progression pathways towards staff nurse training. Selection includes an in‑person numeracy and literacy assessment and interview (no virtual interviews); interviews for this advert are scheduled for Thursday 27 November. There is a planned move of services to Royal Bournemouth Hospital in Spring 2026 and recruiting managers can discuss this at interview.
