The Liaison Psychiatry team is a specialist multidisciplinary mental health service which offers compassionate, person-centred and non-judgemental service to patients suffering from mental health problems aged 16 and over, who are attending A&E or are inpatients in hospital. The Service works closely with acute hospital clinicians and other services to determine the best care for patients.
The PDU is for people who are 18 and over and provides an alternative pathway to access emergency departments and other services, such as the police and ambulance services. This enables the service user to manage their immediate crisis and then to place them onto an appropriate pathway (usually community based).
