This Waking Nights Residential Support Worker role at YMCA Robin Hood Group in Nottingham is a permanent, full‑time position (40 hours per week, including weekends and bank holidays) paying £27,303 plus overtime. You will be awake on shift from 22:00–08:30, providing calm, parent‑style care for looked‑after children — supporting bedtime routines, middle‑of‑the‑night needs and early‑morning activities, keeping children safe and emotionally secure and following a psychologically‑informed therapeutic model. The role also includes supporting the daytime team to keep the home running, keeping accurate records, getting to know each child’s needs and preferences, and occasionally using the home car for activities and school runs (full UK driving licence required). Enhanced DBS and child‑barred list checks are mandatory; the rota is flexible and includes long days, evenings, sleep‑ins and weekends, so resilience, consistency and a caring temperament are essential — qualities often found in experienced women carers and those returning to the sector.
