Ward 7A/CCU is looking to appoint a ward clerk to join our team.
An opportunity has arisen to recruit a full time ward clerk to work alongside the multidisciplinary team on ward 7A
We are a 26 bedded ward looking after medical and cardiology patients with a purpose built monitored bay.
Ward 7A has a well established team who are friendly and welcoming.
Main duties of the job
Working as a multi-disciplinary team, we are committed to delivering highest quality of care to our patients with the support of our essential Administrative staff.
The successful applicant will be responsible for a variety of duties including answering telephone calls, recording patient admissions, transfer & discharge using electronic systems, filing hard copy documentation, managing Medical & Nursing notes, etc.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults' and children's accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women's and children's services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

KEY DUTIES
- Answering the telephone, recording and delivering telephone messages to appropriate staff, patients, and departments.
- Sending and receiving documentation to and from departments, staff and other hospitals.
- Liaising with other departments/ staff to obtain / deliver information relating to patients and department management.
- Ensuring correct personal details of the patient are on all patient documentation.
- Ensuring correct personal details for staff are recorded on documentation.
- Maintain and update Medway as necessary.
- Prepare Nursing documentation for patient admission to the ward.
- Maintain staff electronic record including details of training attended / completed, i.e. scanning / photocopying of documents.
- Deliver departmental post, messages and patient property.
- Deliver and collect items to / from other departments i.e. pharmacy.
- Deliver referrals to other Consultants and appropriate secretaries.
- Communicate with the Case Managers at the shift lea der s request.
- Liaise with ward staff to establish bed availability on transfers.
- Arrange and inform patients of appointments with other departments.
- Assist with ordering and arranging ambulance / transport for transfer, discharge and follow up external appointments for patients.
- Filing of all documentation into case notes and preparing case notes and x-rays for Solicitor requests
- Ensuring adequate levels of nursing documentation available.
- Photocopying nursing & patient related documentation at the request of the nursing staff
- Maintaining & keeping clean and tidy the ward office, the Nurses stations, department computers, filing cabinets, stationary cupboards and case note trolleys.
- To ensure compliance to all Trust Risk management, Research Governance and Infection Control Policies and Procedures and abide by the Standards for Better Health
- Undertake appropriate mandatory training including infection control and comply with all Trust Infection Control policies relevant to the post, particularly with regard to the hand hygiene policy.
