Support adults and children with mobility, postural and pressure-care needs as a Wheelchair Service Assistant (Band 3) for County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, based at Sedgefield Community Hospital, Stockton-on-Tees (TS21). This permanent role (full- or part-time) offers Monday–Friday daytime hours (08:30–16:30) and a salary of £24,937–£26,598 pro rata. The job combines patient-facing clinical tasks with administrative and logistical responsibilities: assembling, labelling and handing over equipment; carrying out basic adjustments and demonstrations in clinic and at patients’ homes; managing stock, orders and returns; receipting deliveries; booking appointments and updating electronic records; and taking part in audits and service development. You will travel independently between trust sites and community locations, work alongside clinicians when required, and often carry out physically active manual-handling duties in environments that can include clinical waste and soiled linen.

This role suits organised, compassionate people—particularly women and carers—who have experience in customer service or administration and want a stable NHS post with clear development opportunities. Essential requirements include NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), the specified GCSEs (certificates must be produced at interview), strong IT and data-entry skills, excellent communication and problem-solving, ability to plan and prioritise, and willingness to obtain a DBS check and travel across the county. You’ll contribute to improving services and adopting new technologies, supporting patients, families and colleagues every day. The Trust welcomes applicants from disabled and BAME candidates.
