As a Telephonist/Receptionist at Harplands Hospital (Stoke‑on‑Trent, ST4) you will be the calm, professional first point of contact for a 24/7 mental health service. This permanent, part‑time role (24 hours per week, Band 2 — £24,465 pro rata) combines switchboard operation and front‑of‑house duties: answering and redirecting calls, greeting patients, visitors and staff, operating the bleep system, maintaining on‑call rotas, handling postal franking and taxi bookings, and undertaking data entry and VDU work. You will follow emergency procedures, support colleagues across a 24‑hour rotational cover including bank holidays, and be expected to work independently while contributing to a close‑knit reception team.

This vacancy will suit caring, organised people — particularly those with strong communication and keyboard skills who want predictable, part‑time hours that fit around caring responsibilities. The Trust places staff wellbeing and flexible working at its heart, is committed to sustainability (Greener NHS) and champions an inclusive workforce; applications from women and other under‑represented groups are warmly encouraged. A Disclosure and Barring Service check is required and applicants needing Skilled Worker sponsorship will be considered.
