As an Advisory Officer (Contact) with Surrey County Council's Adult Social Care Information & Advice Service you will be the first point of contact for residents and professionals seeking support. Based at Dakota in Weybridge, this permanent role carries a starting salary of £33,552–£35,763 for a 36‑hour week (pro‑rata for part‑time) and involves handling a wide range of enquiries: explaining local care and funding options, triaging urgency and risk, recording accurate case information on databases, and coordinating responses with partner agencies including police and ambulance services. You will work to agreed service‑level targets, support safeguarding and emergency responses, and use sound judgement and clear communication to guide people through complex situations. New starters attend an in‑office induction (four days a week for up to 12 weeks) before moving to a flexible hybrid pattern, typically two days in the office and three at home; a basic DBS check is required.

This post will suit experienced carers and empathetic communicators — particularly women seeking meaningful, flexible public sector work — who can combine compassion with attention to detail. Surrey offers 26 days' holiday (rising to 28 after two years and 31 after five), the option to buy up to 10 extra days, a generous local government pension, up to five days' carer's leave, two paid volunteering days a year, EAP support, and a strong learning and development hub. To be shortlisted you should evidence understanding of social care, excellent customer service and IT/database skills, high‑quality written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage sensitive calls. The closing date is 16 November 2025 with interviews planned for the week commencing 24 November (a 10‑minute presentation forms part of the interview).
