Job summary


Cardiac Surgery at QEHB is seeking a dynamic, adaptable, and diligent individual for a leadership role to drive the department forwards. The Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner role will oversee a team of ACPs and SCPs working between the ward and theatres, managing elective, urgent, and emergent activity.

QEHB Cardiac Surgery is a tertiary and quaternary surgical centre offering treatment across a broad spectrum of sub-speciality work including aortic, coronary, mitral, ACHD, carcinoid, and transplantation. The footprint of cardiac services at QEHB span a cardiac surgical ward, cardiology ward, CCU, ITU, one emergency and two elective theatres.

Key aspects of this role include service delivery planning and strategy, rota and resource management, training, reporting, and governance for both the ACP and SCP teams.

  • *Professional Healthcare Registration with a UK Regulatory Body (NMC / HCPC / GPhC)


  • *Post Graduate Qualification in specific speciality or equivalent experience


  • *MSc or Level 7 equivalent portfolio of 180 CATs (Must cover all 4 Pillars of advanced clinical practice) -- Portfolio must include evidence of health assessment module at Level 7


  • *Independent Supplementary Prescribing where applicable to registration


  • *Advanced Life Support Qualification

  • *Substantial autonomous practice working as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in a multi professional practice setting as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the required speciality

  • *Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) / HCPC / regulatory standards for student supervision and assessment
