Job description
Play a central role in supporting people affected by blood cancers as the Cancer Care Co‑ordinator for Haematology at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. You will be the first point of contact for patients, carers and the multi‑disciplinary team, coordinating care along the cancer pathway, performing telephone triage, carrying out holistic needs assessments, maintaining accurate records and providing clinic administration. The role combines hands‑on patient support with service development—signposting to local services, promoting self‑management and contributing to audits and patient feedback to improve outcomes. Based at the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre, Harrogate District Hospital (HG27SX), this permanent, part‑time and flexible post is Band 4 (Agenda for Change) with a salary of £27,485–£30,162 pro rata.
This opportunity will suit an organised, empathetic person with NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) and GCSEs including Maths and English, plus experience of working in a healthcare setting and with multi‑professional teams; telephone triage and clinic administration experience is desirable. You’ll need strong communication and IT skills, an ability to manage sensitive conversations and a calm approach to planning a low‑risk caseload. A DBS check and satisfactory pre‑employment checks are required; sponsorship may be available for eligible applicants and posts may close early if sufficient applications are received. Harrogate Trust promotes a supportive culture with staff recognition awards, an Employee Assistance Programme, counselling and fast‑track physiotherapy. If this role fits your caring values and need for flexible hours—particularly suitable for women returning to work or experienced carers—please click the “Apply Now” button to proceed via jobsincare.com.
