Job description
As a Clinical Administrator with The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust you will provide vital administrative support to consultants and clinical teams in the Respiratory Department, working from Freeman Hospital (NE7) with links to the Royal Victoria Infirmary. This permanent, full‑time Band 3 role (37.5 hours/week) pays £24,937–£26,598 and covers a broad range of day‑to‑day duties: VR audio typing and proofreading, preparing and filing correspondence, processing referrals and post, managing appointments and diaries, answering patient telephone enquiries, chasing results and providing occasional cover for senior medical secretarial duties and Trust‑wide clinical admin posts. The work is varied and fast‑moving, requiring strong time‑management, attention to detail and a calm, professional approach to support smooth patient flow.
This role will suit organised, reliable people — particularly women returning to work or carers seeking supportive, flexible employment — who have strong keyboard and IT skills and a Level 3 administration qualification (or equivalent). NHS administration experience is helpful but not essential: full training is provided, and confidentiality and professionalism are essential; the post is subject to a DBS check. The Trust promotes flexible working and career development, with a welcoming team environment and staff benefits across Newcastle hospitals.
