Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (part of NHS Wales) is seeking a Consultant Cellular Pathologist to be based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant (CF72 8XR). This permanent, full‑time consultant post (salary £110,240–£160,951) offers the chance to work within a mutually supportive team of eight pathologists, practising high‑quality histopathology while helping to design and develop local services. The role suits either a newly appointed consultant keen to grow within an innovative department or an experienced histopathologist looking for a fresh base; Welsh and English speakers are equally welcome. The position combines strong professional support with an attractive local lifestyle close to Cardiff, the coast and the Welsh countryside, and sits within a Health Board serving around 450,000 people across Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf.

You will report a broad and varied cellular pathology workload—dermatology, gynaecology and non‑gynae cytology, head and neck, lung, breast and gastrointestinal specimens including bowel screening—working closely with clinical colleagues, participating in MDTs and contributing to teaching, audit and quality improvement. The post includes optional coronial autopsy work, scope to develop a specialist interest, an expanding immunohistochemistry service and close links to molecular pathology and the All Wales Genomics service. Applicants should hold FRCPath (or equivalent) and be on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of CCT/CESR(CP) at interview; applications from those requiring skilled worker sponsorship are welcome and DBS checks will be required.
