As a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) at Chilcote Surgery in Torquay (Hampton Avenue, TQ1), you’ll work as part of a friendly multi‑disciplinary team supporting practice nurses and clinicians to deliver hands‑on patient care. The role covers clinical tasks within your scope — vaccinations, venepuncture, wound care and removal of sutures, basic observations (BP, pulse, height, weight, BMI), specimen handling, chaperoning and assisting during minor procedures — alongside helping with health promotion, long‑term condition support and occasional administrative duties. You’ll work under the supervision of registered clinicians, follow national and local protocols, and be expected to hold the Care Certificate (or equivalent) plus DBS and occupational health clearance. The post is permanent with full‑time and part‑time options, pays around £13.00–£13.75 per hour depending on experience, and is based in a long‑established, CQC‑rated GOOD practice serving about 15,600 patients across two local sites.
