Job description
HCSW Band 3 (Children’s Outpatients) with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, based at Wrexham Maelor Hospital (LL13) offers a hands‑on paediatric role supporting children and young people from birth to 16–18 years across a busy outpatient and phlebotomy service. This permanent, part‑time Band 3 post (salary £25,313–£26,999 pro‑rata) involves direct patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team: assisting with patient flow and appointments, chaperoning, taking observations and measurements, venepuncture, ECGs, HbA1c and blood glucose checks, specimen collection, supporting cannulation, and handling face‑to‑face and telephone queries. You’ll work Monday to Friday clinics within a small, friendly department that runs medical, nursing and dietetic clinics and several visiting consultant sessions, so confidence, calm under pressure and a caring bedside manner are essential.
This role is ideal for experienced carers and women looking for meaningful, flexible work where compassion and practical skills matter. You’ll need a Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) and previous health/social care experience, with knowledge of the HCSW Code of Conduct in Wales and safeguarding principles; Welsh language skills are desirable. The post includes DBS clearance, opportunities to support and teach students and junior staff, and the chance to develop clinically within a supportive Health Board that values equality and staff development.
