As a Health Care Assistant at Newtown Medical Practice you will work full time (37 hours per week, five days Monday to Friday) alongside our clinical team in a busy GP surgery on the Shropshire–Powys border (Newtown, SY16). The post is practical and clinical: taking observations and measurements (blood pressure, temperature, height/weight, peak flow, 24‑hour BP), venepuncture and specimen handling, ECGs and spirometry, urinalysis, diabetic foot checks, wound care and stitch removal, plus assisting with minor procedures and injuries. You will support infection control, help with ordering and stock management, contribute to audits and patient-notes summarisation, and with appropriate qualifications administer influenza and Vitamin B12 injections. Full training is provided; applicants should have GCSEs including English and Maths and an NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (NVQ Level 3, phlebotomy or immunisation accreditation are desirable). A DBS check is required.
