Start as a Healthcare Assistant (Band 2) with Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust at Darent Valley Hospital (DA2) in a patient-facing role across wards and outpatients. You will work as part of the nursing team, providing hands-on care, supporting Registered Nurses and helping to maintain a safe clinical environment. Shifts vary by area: inpatient long days and nights (07:00–19:30 and 19:00–07:30, including weekends) and outpatients typically 08:00–18:00 depending on clinical need. The post is permanent and full-time, salary from £25,768 (incl. fringe; pro rata if part-time). Essential basics include good literacy and numeracy (GCSE or equivalent) and a DBS check; the role is patient-facing and requires commitment to vaccination guidance where applicable. Please note the Trust cannot offer sponsorship for roles at Band 4 and below, so do not apply if you require sponsorship.

This is a development post with a clear route to progress: you’ll start at Band 2 and, with supported training and completion of the Care Certificate (anticipated within six months), you will be uplifted to Band 3. A dedicated HCA education team provides induction, mentoring and competency support, making this an excellent step for carers or those returning to work. The Trust is committed to inclusion, diversity and continuous quality improvement, offering a stable NHS employer and highly practical on-the-job learning.
