HEREFORD GENERAL HOSPITAL & WORCESTERSHIREROYAL HOSPITALHealthcare Assistant / ReceptionistBand 315 hrs per weekWe require a talented andcommitted HCA to fill the Band 3 role at Hereford providing high qualitysupport to patients living with HIV. Thecandidate will also be required to work at our Worcestershire Royal Hospitalsite on occasions.The appointed candidate willsupport the HIV CNS and the Consultant in effectively managing a highly complexclinical caseload. This involves prioritizing needs to ensure that an efficientservice is provided. You will help support the team looking after patientsundergoing assessment and treatment of HIV.You will work as a member ofthe multi-professional team supporting consultants and nurse-led clinics.This role includes providingreception duties and booking appointments as appropriate.The hours for this positionare flexible but must be worked over 2 days a week. Main duties of the job
Toaccompany patients where clinical support is indicated.Takingand recording and monitoring of patient observations to include, bloodpressure, pulse, oxygen saturations, temperature and respirations. Thisincludes accurate calculation and recording of NEWS 2 (early warning score) andescalation to registered staff as indicated by score.BloodGlucose Monitoring.Undertakeasymptomatic sexual health screening as directed by the CNS.To workwithin the phlebotomy service when required.Tocover reception duties and book appointments as appropriate.Toanswer telephone calls, bleep etc. and take messages informing appropriatepersons of the call or bleep received.Toassist in the transferring of patients using correct manual handling techniquesand equipment as appropriate.Answerthe telephone, refer to appropriate person.Answerbleeps, taking accurate messages and relay to appropriate person.Beaware of the need to greet visitors to the ward/department and ascertain thepurpose of their visit.Demonstrateknowledge and understanding of health and safety at work in order to maintain asafe environment.Reception/telephoneduties.Preparingnotes - using both electronic and manual systems.Assistin the preparation of medical and nursing notes for clinics.
