Job description
Be part of Oxford Health NHS Trust’s School Aged Immunisation Service in East Oxford (OX4) as a term‑time only Healthcare Support Worker, working 22.5 hours per week. This permanent, Band 3 post (salary £24,937–£26,598 pro rata) involves supporting and delivering the school‑based immunisation programme across the city and south Oxfordshire: attending school and community vaccination sessions, providing administrative and clinical support, administering flu vaccinations under the supervision of a registered clinician, observing pupils after vaccination, and helping with safe storage, transport and disposal of vaccines and equipment. The role requires flexibility (early starts from 07:30 and occasional evenings/weekends), travel by car (mileage paid; reasonable adjustments considered under the Equality Act 2010), strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Full training is provided; applicants should explain in their supporting statement how they meet eligibility criteria such as prior vaccinator experience or Level 3+ clinical experience in NHS/primary care/dental or community settings.
This position is ideal for compassionate carers — especially women balancing family or caring responsibilities — who want meaningful, varied work that fits around term dates and offers development. Oxford Health promotes career progression, learning and wellbeing, with benefits including generous annual leave (27 days plus bank holidays, rising with service), NHS discounts, pension, employee assistance and mental health first aid support, and staff networks.
