Job description
Support patients through their surgical journey in the Trauma and Orthopaedic Theatres at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust in Torquay (TQ27AA) as a Healthcare Support Worker. This hands‑on role sees you preparing theatres and equipment, maintaining cleanliness and adhering to theatre safety, circulating during lists, and escorting patients from the ward to the anaesthetic room. You will work closely with nurses, ODPs and HSDU to ensure instruments and stock are ready, keep accurate and confidential records, and assist with induction of new staff and students. The post suits someone with previous care experience and an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), good communication and keyboard skills, fine motor ability for clinical tasks, and a calm, adaptable approach; the role is subject to a DBS check.
