PERMANENT
Job description
Provide hands-on, compassionate care to people living with cancer as a Healthcare Support Worker on Laurel 2 Oncology at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in Worcester (WR5). This permanent Band 3 post is 37.5 hours per week with a salary of £24,937–£26,598 and offers full-time, flexible working — the Trust holds Timewise accreditation for flex-positive practice. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support registered nurses by delivering and documenting high-quality care, undertaking delegated clinical duties, supervising junior staff and students when needed, and helping to prepare patients for treatment and investigations while protecting privacy and dignity.
Daily responsibilities include personal care (washing, bathing, mouth care), aiding meals and monitoring nutrition, assisting mobilisation and moving/repositioning, recording outputs and collecting samples, ward duties such as bed-making and stock replenishment, chaperoning and accompanying patients, supporting relatives, and providing sensitive care for dying patients. This role is ideal for steady, empathetic carers — particularly those returning to or building a career in frontline care — who have good communication, basic numeracy and literacy, a willingness to use technology and to complete the Care Certificate, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required. If this practical, patient-centred role sounds right for you, click the "Apply Now" button alongside this advert to apply via jobsincare.com.
