Make a real difference to patients’ diagnostic care as an Imaging Assistant with Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, based at Harrogate District Hospital (HG2) and working across Ripon Community Hospital and community settings. This hands‑on support role helps sonographers, radiologists, radiographers and nursing staff across general x‑ray, ultrasound, bone densitometry, breast imaging, CT, MRI and Nuclear Medicine. Typical duties include greeting and preparing patients, helping them into gowns, providing personal care such as toileting, assisting with standard and aseptic procedures, completing necessary clerical tasks and liaising with wards and clinicians. The department runs 24/7 so you will work on a roster that can include overnight shifts. This is a permanent Band 2 post (full‑time or part‑time) paying £24,465–£26,598 pa pro rata, with a clear route to Band 3 once the preceptorship programme is complete or with relevant experience.

This vacancy is ideal for caring, organised people — particularly women looking for meaningful NHS work that balances practical support and personal contact. Applicants should have 5 GCSEs or equivalent and either the Care Certificate or a willingness to undertake it; basic IT, good communication and numeracy are required. The Trust values Kindness, Integrity, Teamwork and Equality and offers a supportive culture, staff recognition schemes and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme, counselling and fast‑track physiotherapy. Posts may close early if applications are sufficient and DBS clearance is required; visa sponsorship is considered for some roles (note no relocation package for Agenda for Change posts).
