Work Placement Coordinator inTyne and wear inTyne and wear PUBLISHED 19 DEC 2023

Band 4: £26,530 to £29,114 a year per annum  PERMANENT 
Offer pastoral support and be the allocated point of contact for all placement students whilst on placement within the Trust.

  • To manage end to end work placement offer across the trust.
  • To engage with education and community through a range of promotional activities to raise awareness of work-based learning opportunities including work experience, T-levels, Step into health and careers both internally and externally in the NHS and health and social care employers.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to increase placement capacity across all clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Manage the delivery and evaluation of all placement activities, co-ordinating the organisation and smooth running of these activities.
  • Maintain effective and professional communication (including permitted social media engagement) with the public, external providers to cascade information regarding careers, work experience and T-Levels.
  • Manage and collect data related to all placement activities following trust policies and procedures.
  • Increase the number and expand the breadth of placement areas across the trust to showcase the range of careers available across the NHS.
  • Adopt a QI approach to the trust placement process to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Expand the breadth of T-Level placements with support of our Senior Practitioner
  • Offer pastoral support and be the allocated point of contact for all placement students whilst on placement within the Trust
  • Support managers and mentors hosting placement students.
  • Accurately manage placement database to support the effective recording, monitoring and reporting of information which evidence achievement of national and local standards & targets e.g. NHSE, the Apprenticeship Service, CQC.
  • Work in line with GDPR requirements, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring records are accurate and where requested, archiving/deleting records in line with requirements.
  • Provide a high-quality service to ensure the organisation meets a range of key performance indicators relating to work related placement activities to promote the range of entry and progression pathways into NHS careers including educational and vocational routes and Corporate Social Responsibility indicators

This role of our work placement co-ordinator is a part of our widening participation team and will work along side the team to raise aspirations and promote Northumbria Healthcare Foundation trust as an employer of choice.

Our placement opportunities expanse across clinical and non clinical settings and includes initiatives such as a work experience placements, T-Level placements, Step into health placements, bespoke placements, supported internship placements etc.

It is essential that the post holder role models compassionate and inclusive leadership by engaging, enabling and empowering others; using coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement; and facilitating team working and collaboration across organisational boundaries.

The post holder will be expected to develop and enhance the work-based placement opportunities through programmes such as work experience, T-Level, step into health, to scope and create more placement opportunities across Northumbria healthcare NHS foundation trust.The scope of the role will also involve engaging with and influencing placement managers and services to host placements, whilst developing robust processes and lines of communication with all stakeholders by delivering meaningful placement opportunities across education and the communities.
