Job summaryThe Forget Me Not Unit is for people with dementia who are expressing their distress in a way that makes it difficult to support them in their usual environment. The Forget Me Not Unit will provide them with immediate and expert assessment, treatment, and support in a safe environment.
This is a particularly exciting time to be joining our team, as we have recently reorganised our West Sussex in-patient dementia services which are now all housed within our specialist in-patient unit.
The successful candidate will join a friendly, highly-skilled, enthusiastic and supportive team. We will be taking a keen interest in helping you to develop the wide range of skills important to this role; the post-holder will be encouraged to develop special interests and expertise in line with service and team objectives. You will receive regular managerial/ clinical supervision, as well as a commitment to your own continuing professional development.
Main duties of the jobYou will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team undertaking assessments of patients with complex mental health needs developing care and recovery plans in collaboration with the patients and their families/carers.
In conjunction with the team, you will assess and manage risks through assessment regularly reviewing and working in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary teams.
You will act as a Primary Nurse providing clinical and managerial leadership on the ward, whilst also supervising junior staff and trainees.
