Are you looking for experience in Sexual Health and HIV or interested in trying something new? The Jefferiss Wing has an exciting opportunity to join our established nursing team.
We are looking for a pro-active, non-judgmental health care assistant to join our team for an 11 month fixed term period. If you would like to work in this exciting area of healthcare, our in house training and development programme will equip you with the skills you need. Based in The Jefferiss Wing at St Mary's hospital, you will work in the Sexual Health Service carrying out tasks such as venepuncture and microscopy. Health Care Assistants play a central role in the delivery of patient care and this role is continuously developing in order to meet the changing care needs of the patients.
We Are Looking For a Health Care Assistant With
- Experience in phlebotomy and/or sexual health screening (not essential)
- The ability to use your own initiative.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A non-judgmental & empathetic attitude
Main duties of the job
- To work across both clinics in Jefferiss Wing - The Sexual Health clinic and The HIV Outpatient Department (The Wharfside Clinic)
- To carry out care and treatment tasks, delegated from professionally qualified staff, requiring a range of technical ability.
- Ensure the clinic environment is safe and clean
- Fulfil any clerical duties
- To supervise less experienced Nursing Assistants
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide support for any area specified by the co-ordinating nurse on duty.

- Able to speak and write English to an appropriate standard to fulfil the job requirements.
