Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is offering a two-year fixed-term position for a Welsh Language Translation Apprentice in Nantgarw. This role aims to address the growing need for translation services by providing support for translating a variety of materials from English to Welsh and vice versa. The apprentice will receive guidance and mentorship from the Welsh Language Services Team and assist with day-to-day tasks, which include collaborating with HEIW staff and translating diverse content such as web pages, leaflets, publicity materials, and job descriptions.

Candidates do not need prior translation experience but must possess a high level of proficiency in both Welsh and English, along with a keen interest in the field. The position also offers the opportunity to develop interpretation skills and aims to prepare the apprentice for a Band 5 translator role upon completion. The apprenticeship includes academic training through Aberystwyth University, occurring one day a week, either online or in person. Proficiency in Welsh is a crucial requirement for this role.
