This is an obstetrics and gynaecology role to support the middle grade registrar rota for a 6 month period, with a view for extension if possible. The post will be to cover daytime activities on the labour ward, gynaecology wards, antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics and theatres. There will be opportunities for both supported and independent practice and depending on the candidate's interest, the post can be directed to the clinical area they wish to pursue. There will also be the option of doing extra on-call shifts if the candidate is keen and these would be paid at locum rate.
The post will be based mainly at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital.

Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:-
To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's service plans
To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate
To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies
About usTo work at junior registrar level in providing clinical care for women in the outpatient and inpatient setting. The expectation is that the post holder will able to develop their skills in obstetrics and gynaecology within the NHS and gain a vital grounding for future jobs. There will be annual appraisals and assessment of progress.
The post holder would be expected to contribute to the post-graduate education for all grades of medical staff and nursing staff at regular Friday afternoon teaching.
There is a strong link with undergraduate teaching through the University of Bristol medical Academy. This currently involves delivery of several tutorial-based sessions throughout the year the post holder will be expected to contribute to these sessions.
The post holder will be encouraged to mentor and appraise the physician associate recently started in the department.
