University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for the position of Locum Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant with a specialist focus on Hand and Wrist at the Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull hospital sites. This role is designed to advance our department's ambitious goal of enhancing elective capacity while supporting our upper limb trauma and elective services for elbows, hands, and wrists. As part of a Major Trauma Centre, successful candidates will engage in a variety of general trauma and orthopaedic on-call duties, serving both adult and paediatric populations with a 1:8-week frequency. The position features a 10 PA job plan, offering a dynamic work environment that allows for consultation-driven adjustments, underscoring the Trust's commitment to continuous service improvement and adaptability.

Qualified applicants should hold GMC registration and CCT or an equivalent, and possess exceptional skills in managing complex trauma in both adults and children. A minimum of 12 months formal fellowship training, including practice in orthopaedic and plastic hand surgery, is required. This role demands outstanding interpersonal and leadership abilities to effectively teach and guide medical professionals across multiple disciplines.
