Expert Clinical Practice

To review patients on admission: ensure patients have timely access to appropriate investigations, referrals and assessments and that relevant personnel are informed.

To support staff when indicated in the management of patients, families or situations.
To deal sensitively with patients and / or relatives / carers who may be exhibiting a high level of anxiety or aggression.
To be able to sympathetically convey unwelcome news to patients and / or relatives/carers regarding diagnosis and potential recovery.

This is an opportunity for a band 5 staff nurse to work in a brand-new modern hospital, The Louisa Martindale Building. We are excited to have moved into level 8 with our 27 bedded Dementia Unit. The new hospital with its spacious bays, side rooms, amazing views of the sea and Downs, allows the best environment to care for our elderly patients.

We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.

Is responsible for the assessment, planning and implementation of care and assists in the interpretation of data relevant to the patient's condition and progress
Assists in the identification of patient problems and needs with the patient, their carers, senior nursing staff and other staff as appropriate
Identifies the priorities of care for patients
Identifies realistic goals for patients in care plans
Gives skilled care to patients and provides support to their carers
Administers drugs and treatments as prescribed according to the NMC guidelines and the Trust's Guidelines for the Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines
Changes care plans and goals according to evaluation and discussion with the multidisciplinary team
Demonstrates an understanding and skill in the care and management of the critically ill patient
Works closely with all members of the care team to ensure the needs of the critically ill patient are met
Demonstrates proficiency in the care of CVP lines and the administration of IV Therapy in accordance with Trust Policy.
Participate in the smooth and effective discharge planning for patients
maintains accurate documentation to facilitate the continuity of care for patients transferred to other areas
Ensures that discharge review documentation is completed and reimbursement material is communicated to relevant body in timely fashion
Liase with nursing and clerical staff to enable efficient administration of ward work
