Job description
We are seeking enthusiastic people to join our friendly and supportive team of paediatric audiologists in East London. These positions are based at West Ham Lane Health Centre in Stratford. The department works closely with the other paediatric audiology departments within Barts Health NHS Trust. It provides a comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation service for children, covering both secondary and tertiary care, including working closely with our Consultant audio-vestibular physician. We are actively working towards IQIPS accreditation.
Audiology is managed by Bart's Health and we have sites across Tower Hamlets, City & Hackney and Newham, Waltham Forest and Redbridge.
We have 70 plus members of staff which includes Clinical Scientists, Audiologists, Audiology Assistants, Consultant audio-vestibular physicians and administrative staff.
The successful candidates will be confident, a good communicators, and able to work well within a large team. You will have a BSc in Audiology or Clinical physiology (audiology) or equivalent.
You will be registered with either AHCS or HCPC.
Significant post qualification paediatric experience is desirable.
Perform specialist diagnostic procedures, and provide a comprehensive specialist hearing aid service to children, including determining care plans for individual patients, and involving carers and families as appropriate.
To assist with the day-to-day management for Paediatric Audiology service.
To take an active role in areas of clinical audit, research and clinical governance for the Audiology service, which may include designing and completing audits within own field, participating in data collection for larger projects, and contributing to the development of evidence base protocols.
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, within professional boundaries. To be ultimately accountable to the Clinical lead, and to seek guidance from peers or senior staff whenever necessary.
To carry out all Audiological procedures according to national, professional and local protocols. To justify and document any contraindications or necessary deviation from protocol in the case notes and/or medical notes, seeking guidance on justification if required.
To maintain empathy and rapport with the patient during testing to maximise the quality of test results and minimise patient anxiety including identifying the relevant concerns of the patient, any contraindications to procedures, and explaining and carrying out procedures.
