We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Senior Clinical Lead GP to join our dynamic Senior Management team.

The role of Senior Clinical Lead GP is to provide strong, visible, professional leadership and focus for the delivery of excellent quality of care and outcomes for patients through the development of the clinical workforce whilst effectively supporting clinical governance.

  • Provide professional leadership to the six lead GPs working across Sussex Primary Care.
  • Provide direction and leadership on clinical education and training.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of the SPC clinical strategy
  • Develop clinical standardisation process across seven practices in partnership with the Head of Quality and Safety.
  • Lead a strong culture of patient safety and delivery of excellent patient experience, access and outcomes through the seven pillars of clinical governance including high professional standards in line with SPC governance framework, CQC and GMC regulations.
  • Drive the clinical teams development through clinical supervision, appraisals and compliance with mandatory training.
  • Deliver assurance and compliance reporting to the SPC Board.
  • To actively promote a culture of continuous improvement and learning throughout SPC through the development and implementation of a Clinical Strategy.

Within these overall goals, the role of Senior Clinical Lead is as follows:

Clinical Leadership

  • Be responsible for the delivery of the SPC clinical strategy
  • Deliver high professional standards across SPC and drive continuous professional development and best practice
  • Lead and develop high quality care and patient safety across the practices. Be a point of contact for the practice lead GPs
  • Develop and implement strong clinical governance, clinical risk and patient safety strategies, systems and processes
  • Work with practice management and practice Lead GPs to visibly lead the wider practice teams including regular attendance at practice meetings
  • Professional lead to support career development of GPs including, clinical supervision, appraisals and PDRs
  • Ensure safe clinical staffing is delivered and support the recruitment and retention within clinical services
  • Play a key role in service improvement planning for the future and development of the clinical strategy.
  • Develop and maintain active working relationships with, SCFT, PCNs and the ICB
  • Support the development and sign off of clinical policies/procedures as required
  • Be responsible for leading on the clinical components of QOF, LCS, IIF and PCN income.
  • Develop future income streams for SPC, including influence of policy in PCN areas and neighborhood teams
  • Support the quality assurance agenda at practice meetings in partnership with practice Lead GPs, ensuring that practices work in line with the SPC Clinical Strategy
  • Work collaboratively with the Lead GP to support the individual practice management operational teams and ACP clinical leads
  • Work with the senior team to deliver key improvement initiatives
  • Provide leadership on medical professional standards
  • Develop and support delivery of GP training across SPC practices
  • Develop and support delivery of research across SPC practices

Clinical Quality/Risk/Safety/outcomes

  • Support the clinical functions of service quality, safety and outcomes including clinical audit
  • Lead and implement the seven pillars of clinical governance throughout the Organisation
  • Support serious patient safety investigations and risk, including responsibility for investigating high level or complex complaints as required.
  • Lead on delivery of personalised care and tackling service inequities in access, experience and outcomes
  • Ensure that the systems exist to embed evidence based clinical practice into the service (e.g. implementation of NICE guidance, record management)
  • Take the overall lead for review of clinical aspects of Patient Safety Investigation Incident reviews, ensuring that learning points are captured, documented, actioned and embedded into practice
  • Be responsible for leading on the clinical components of CQC readiness
  • Ensure that the systems exist to embed patient safety across the service
  • Working with the Lead GPs and Educational Lead to support practice education meetings and ensure that clinical staff are made aware of changes to clinical guidelines and policy
  • Be the Caldicott Guardian for Sussex Primary Care

Supervision

  • You will be responsible for delivery of clinical supervision and appraisals to the Lead GPs
  • Provide supervision in line with SPC Clinical Leadership model
