Explore an exceptional career opportunity with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust as a Senior Specialty Fellow in Congenital Cardiac Surgery, beginning in August 2025. This fixed-term position is a crucial part of a leading Tier 1 centre within the Wessex and Thames Valley CHD Operational Delivery Network. Engage in a diverse range of congenital cardiac procedures, featuring advanced surgeries such as the Ross procedure and complex ECMO management. Working alongside four dedicated congenital cardiac consultants, you’ll enhance a growing service accommodating increased surgical demand, supported by a unique dual consultant operation model that fosters a mentoring environment for skill development in handling low to medium complexity lesions.
Your role will encompass responsibilities in theatre, on-call duties, and outpatient clinics, facilitating seamless multi-disciplinary collaboration. Your engagement extends to offering strategic surgical solutions to emergency cases across paediatric intensive care units. This appointment is made under local contractual terms, ensuring alignment with educational benchmarks akin to training grade doctors, inclusive of continuous professional development and appraisal structures. With a competitive salary at nodal pay point MT05 (£70,425) and opportunities for study leave, this role provides an enriching environment for personal and professional growth.
