Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking dedicated Maternity Support Workers (MSWs) to join their Community Midwifery teams in North Shields, specifically for two full-time roles within the Maritime and Hadrian teams. MSWs play a vital role in supporting midwives and the broader maternity workforce, providing essential care for mothers and their babies during pregnancy, labor, and the postnatal period. The role emphasises a safe, person-centered approach, and candidates should be enthusiastic about nurturing new parents and possess strong communication skills.

The position involves a variety of responsibilities, including care for the birth person, handling obstetric and neonatal emergencies, promoting health, screening, supporting infant feeding, and caring for newborns. Successful applicants will need to meet essential qualifications outlined in the job description and will receive support for skill development and potential career progression within the organisation.

There is an exciting opportunity for Maternity Support Workers to join the Community Midwifery teams. We have two full time posts available; covering the Maritime (Ashington and Blyth) and Hadrian (Wallsend and Killingworth) teams.

Maternity support workers (MSWs) are an integral part of the maternity workforce and play an important role in supporting midwives and the wider maternity teams, mothers and their babies through pregnancy, labour and during the postnatal period. Providing a safe holistic approach to birth person centred care.

The post holder is expected to demonstrate they have the Essential person specification in line with the Job Description and undertake a set of defined competencies. Support will be given to employees to further develop their skills and explore pathways for progression where appropriate.
