This involves working with hyper acute and acute inpatients at Southmead Hospital. The post may close early if sufficient applications are received so you are advised to apply as soon as possible. This integrated role is to assist patients with difficulties such as reduced balance, reduced range of movement, reduced mobility & muscle strength, cognitive impairment and reduced confidence improve their ability to manage activities of daily living. A range of therapy interventions are delivered, under the supervision of registered occupational therapists or physiotherapists to facilitate recovery and promote independence. This includes supporting individuals to use the toilet, wash & dress or carry out other domestic tasks. You may also be required to support groups and facilitate other meaningful activities. Under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist the post holder is expected to: • Treat patients within acute specialties, providing a range of interventions to facilitate recovery and promote independence. • Work with patients towards their functional goals and assist timely discharge from hospital. Tasks include personal and domestic activities of daily living, organising and implementing physical treatment sessions from treatment protocols, monitoring patient progress, adapting treatment as necessary with advice from an occupational therapist. • The role involves both direct patient contact and indirect patient related duties.
