Working closely with teachers and therapists, you'll help create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment where pupils feel understood, supported and able to thrive. What You'll Be Doing - Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups to develop their expressive and receptive language - Using PECS, Makaton, and visual resources to promote understanding and independence - Encouraging positive social interaction and emotional regulation through clear, consistent routines - Implementing strategies recommended by Speech and Language Therapists and teaching staff - Fostering a warm, trusting atmosphere that helps pupils grow in confidence and communication Who You Are This role would suit: - Psychology, Education or Speech & Language graduates - Experienced Teaching Assistants or Support Workers with SEND experience - Parents, carers or individuals with lived experience of communication needs - Those exploring a future in speech therapy, SEN teaching or child development You'll Need: - A calm, patient and encouraging approach - Strong communication and teamwork skills - A genuine interest in how children communicate and learn - A belief in inclusive, child-centred education About the School The school provides a specialist, nurturing environment where structure and communication are at the heart of everything they do. Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
