Pobl Group’s Supported Housing service in Ystrad Mynach is recruiting a Housing Support Worker (also known as Project Worker) to deliver hands-on, person-centred support at Maes Y Derwen. This full-time, permanent role (37 hours) pays £26,072 per year and is on-site only, working with people aged 16+ who are experiencing homelessness and may have complex or traumatic backgrounds. You will manage a caseload, write and follow support plans, teach tenancy management, run health and wellbeing workshops, accompany residents to appointments, organise activities and day trips, liaise with housing, DWP, health and social services, and help maintain a homely environment. The service is a Psychologically Informed Environment where every day brings different challenges and chances to learn — a role well suited to compassionate carers, particularly women seeking meaningful, practical work that supports others toward independence.

The scheme is staffed 24/7 on a six-week rolling rota covering days, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins; sleep-ins are paid at an additional £62.64 each and the rota includes a secluded rest area for those shifts. Benefits include 26 days’ holiday (pro rata) plus bank holidays rising to 27 days after one year or a cash equivalent, pension, paid enhanced DBS, sick pay that rises with service (up to six months’ full pay after four years), employee counselling and wellbeing services, training and progression opportunities, colleague referral and long-service awards, Blue Light Card discounts and mileage at 45p per mile. Pobl operates under FREDIE principles (Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, Engagement) and welcomes applications from all backgrounds — we particularly encourage women carers to apply.
