The mental health social work function is delivered within Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust’s (GMMH) Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) where there is a commitment to multi-disciplinary working with other professionals. The postholder will be contributing to this transformation as we start to re-purpose the Mental Health Social Worker role to focus more upon the delivery of statutory social care functions.The main duties attached to this role are likely to be subject to change as the transformation of Mental Health Adult Social Care progresses, however, thetwo areas of initial focus will be Adult Safeguarding and the delivery of Care Act assessment functions in relation to incoming referrals to community mental health services. The postholder will contribute to screening adult safeguarding referrals and will act as Enquiry Officer for those referrals meeting the s.42 threshold for further enquiry. The postholder will also provide Care Act s.2 and s.4 statutory functions, and when required proportionate Care Act assessments in relation to new referrals to Salford’s community mental health services. The post is 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday and will be primarily based at GMMH’s Adult Community Mental Health Team located at Prescott House, Little Hulton, M28 0ZA, however, the postholder will work in conjunction with other social workers providing the same functions across Salford’s other Community Mental Health Teams and will need to pick up work at these teams when required. To apply, you'll need to have a professional Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.You should also have an interest in mental health and previous experience supporting people with mental health problems. You will be offered regular line management and professional social work supervision, and there will also be regular opportunities for continuing professional development. Staff well-being is important, and we offer peer support groups and reflective practice groups. We welcome applications from Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) and Best Interests Assessors (BIAs), or staff wishing to train as such. Qualified AMHPs will be expected to contribute to the AMHP rota as part of their role.
