As a Band 6 Charge Nurse at the Kingfisher Inpatient Service in Bristol you will lead the clinical delivery and safe running of the shift, working to the NMC Code and acting as Nurse in Charge on a rota basis. The role requires day‑to‑day operational responsibility for assessment, care planning, risk management and medicines administration (in line with NMC, Misuse of Drugs Act and Mental Health Act requirements). You will oversee evidence‑based nursing practice for people with learning disabilities and autism within a forensic setting, drive audits and quality improvement, maintain high standards of clinical record keeping, and support psychosocial therapeutic engagement. Strong decision‑making, sensitive communication with service users and carers, and the ability to translate policy into practical, compassionate care are essential parts of the role.

This permanent, full‑time post (salary £38,682–£46,580) is ideal for experienced registered nurses who want a visible leadership role that combines hands‑on clinical work with staff development and service improvement. You will mentor students and staff, cultivate a reflective learning culture, manage rostering and local resources, and contribute to a restorative, just‑culture approach to performance and wellbeing.
