Senior Support Worker (Physical Health) with Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust — full‑time, permanent role based in Bournemouth (BH10), salary £27,485–£30,162 p.a. This hands‑on role is for an experienced, compassionate carer keen to improve the physical health of people living with serious mental illness. You will deliver annual physical health checks and a range of clinical observations — venepuncture, ECGs, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height/weight and BMI — plus substance and alcohol screening. The post involves positive health promotion and brief interventions (smoking cessation, diet and exercise advice), setting achievable goals, signposting to local services, and supporting Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIS) key workers. The role requires good interpersonal skills to engage patients who may be hard to reach, the ability to work autonomously with managerial oversight, comfortable travel to patients’ homes, and commitment to maintaining high standards and accurate records.

This role offers a meaningful way to use and develop practical clinical skills within an inclusive, forward‑looking NHS Trust rated outstanding by the CQC, serving local communities across Dorset. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team, receive clinical supervision, and have opportunities for ongoing professional development — making it a strong fit for women carers who want purposeful, people‑centred work that balances autonomy with team support. Dorset HealthCare values diversity and supports people into work, so this role is suitable for those returning to practice or keen to specialise in physical health for mental health service users.
