Senior Practitioner – Team Around the Child with Leicestershire County Council, based at County Hall, Glenfield (Leicester). This permanent, part‑time role (22.5 hours per week, Monday–Wednesday with flexible days) offers a salary of £43,860–£47,829 pa (pro rata) plus market premium and a hybrid working pattern. As a senior practitioner / supervising social worker you will support mainstream foster carers to deliver trauma‑informed, therapeutic care for looked after children, working with whole fostering households (including birth children). You will hold responsibility for statutory oversight of fostering households — providing regular supervision, completing annual reviews, matching children with suitable carers, attending weekly duty meetings, and working across the fostering duty team. The post includes operational duties such as chairing meetings, supervising support workers, delivering skills‑to‑foster training and leading the children‑who‑foster scheme; occasional evening or weekend events are part of the role. An enhanced DBS is required.

This opportunity is for experienced, qualified social workers (CQSW/DipSW or equivalent, ASYE pass minimum) with post‑qualification experience in children’s services, statutory childcare practice (safeguarding, child protection, care proceedings) and fostering work, plus strong communication, IT and multi‑agency skills. Leicestershire County Council values flexible working and offers reasonable adjustments, term‑time/part‑time and other family‑friendly arrangements — making this role especially attractive to women and carers seeking a senior, purposeful post that balances home and professional life. The council is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and is a Disability Confident employer.
