The client lives with her 2-year-old son and is looking for a second Personal Assistant (PA) to join her support team. This position is funded through the Direct Payment scheme via York Adult Social Care. The client lives with multiple disabilities, including physical impairments (she uses a powerchair), Autism, ADHD, and complex mental health conditions (C-PTSD, clinical depression). Her life can be busy and full of events, and she needs a second PA who is organised, patient, and compassionate to help her thrive. The Role This is a flexible, part-time position for approximately 60 hours per 4-week cycle, with duties including: - Assistance with mobility and daily routines. - Support with personal care, including showering and hair washing. Client doesn’t need assistance with going to the toilet. - Helping with parenting tasks, such as nursery pickups. - Attending a wide variety of community events, including swimming, soft play, gym sessions, and theatre visits. - Regular evening and weekend work, with occasional overnight travel (approximately once or twice a month). All travel and accommodation costs for trips will be covered. Mandatory: - Full and clean UK driver’s license - Female only/F gender marker (trans inclusive) - Legal right to work in the UK - The ability/willingness to drive clients WAV (Ford, 6-seater) - LGBTQ+ friendly/inclusive and respectful - Be okay/non-allergic to cats - Have worked with/around children, or personal childcare experience Greatly preferred: - Experienced in supporting individuals with autism, mental health conditions, and physical disabilities. - Be on the DBS update service with an enhanced disclosure for supporting adults and children, or be willing to have an enhanced DBS check, which would be provided by the client. - Available for some overnight travel (1–2 times per month with notice). - A genuine interest in the creative arts - First aid trained (but this can be arranged) Extreme gold-dust skills (highly desirable) - Fluent in BSL or Makaton. - Specific training in supporting individuals with autism and/or ADHD - Mental health first aid trained.
