We are seeking a passionate, proactive, and compassionate Attendance Lead/ Family Support Worker to join our dedicated team and help us secure the very best outcomes for our children. About the Role This is a vital role within our school. You will lead on improving and maintaining high levels of attendance and punctuality across the school, working closely with pupils, families, and staff to remove barriers to regular attendance. You will take a proactive, supportive, and sometimes challenging approach to ensure every child is in school, on time, and ready to learn every day. Alongside attendance, you will play a key role in providing early help and family support. Many of our families face a range of challenges, and you will work sensitively and effectively to build trust, offer guidance, and signpost to external services where appropriate. Key Responsibilities Lead on monitoring, tracking, and improving pupil attendance and punctuality. Build strong relationships with children and families to promote the value of excellent attendance. Undertake home visits and meetings to address persistent absence. Work in partnership with the local authority, safeguarding, and external agencies. Support families with a range of needs including: o Domestic abuse and family conflict o Poverty and housing difficulties o Adult education and employment support o Establishing school routines and positive homeschool relationships Develop and implement creative strategies and interventions to support improved attendance. Maintain accurate records and produce attendance reports for senior leaders and governors. About You We are looking for someone who is: Passionate about improving children’s life chances through education. Empathetic, approachable, and able to build trust quickly. Resilient and confident in managing sensitive or challenging situations. Organised, proactive, and able to use initiative. Experienced in working with children and families, ideally within education, social care, or community settings. Knowledgeable about safeguarding, attendance legislation, and early help processes.
