We aim to provide a service that supports patients to live independently and return home when it is safe for them to do so. Piper Intermediate Care Unit is a 26 bedded ward, nursing led, that provides short term reablement for patients ready for discharge. Patients are transferred to Piper ward from the two Crawley rehabilitation wards, where they wait to be discharged safely to home or placement. We are the main provider of NHS community services across East and West Sussex, with 6,000 staff serving 1.3 million people. We deliver essential care to adults and children, helping them manage their health, avoid hospital admissions, and reduce hospital stays.
