Care for critically ill adults across Oxford’s major teaching hospitals as a Critical Care Physiotherapist covering the Oxford Critical Care and Churchill Intensive Care Units on a seven‑day rota. This permanent, full‑time post (salary £38,682–£46,580 per annum, pro rata) involves advanced assessment and treatment of complex cardio‑respiratory and ICU patients, providing expert advice to patients, carers and other professionals, and supervising students and junior staff. You will be expected to deputise for senior physiotherapy leads when required, contribute to audits, service development and research, and carry out frequent manual handling and therapeutic techniques in emotionally demanding clinical settings.

This role suits a physiotherapist with a solid foundation in acute cardio‑respiratory and ICU practice who is keen to develop clinically and lead within a supportive team. The Adult Critical Care Therapy service offers a well‑established competency and capability programme, mentorship from advanced practitioners and clinical academics, opportunities for teaching and research, and a culture rooted in OUH’s Delivering Compassionate Excellence values. Oxford University Hospitals is a large, inclusive NHS teaching trust and a Disability Confident employer; the service emphasises practical flexibility around clinical caseloads and strong peer support—qualities that often appeal to women and carers balancing professional growth with caring responsibilities.
