As a Healthcare Support Worker at HMP Durham with Spectrum Community Health CIC you’ll deliver compassionate, person-centred care within a multidisciplinary health team in a custodial setting. This full‑time, permanent role (salary circa £24,937–£26,598 pa) involves reception screening, delivering agreed care packages, undertaking physical observations and supporting clinics including phlebotomy, ECG, NHS health checks, sexual health and substance misuse services. You’ll work under the supervision of a qualified nurse or practitioner, so clear communication, teamwork and hands‑on care experience are essential; an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) and previous care experience are highly desirable. The role suits experienced carers, people returning to the workforce and those keen to develop clinical skills in a health and justice setting where every day makes an immediate difference to vulnerable people.

Spectrum is a values‑driven, not‑for‑profit community interest company focused on high standards of care and staff wellbeing, so you’ll benefit from training and development, flexible working options, access to an NHS pension, employee assistance and wellbeing programmes, up to 33 days’ annual leave and other staff incentives.
