Provide calm, confidential telephone support to callers on Mental Health Matters' Helpline based at Waterside House, Sunderland (SR5). As a Volunteer Telephone Support Worker you’ll offer compassionate listening, basic crisis de-escalation and practical signposting for callers linked to NHS Trusts. The helpline runs 24/7, but shifts can be arranged to suit your availability; you’ll work within a supervised team and always have support from Telephone Support Workers and Shift Supervisors while taking calls.

This voluntary role needs you to be over 18 and able to complete an Enhanced DBS check; no prior experience is required and lived experience is welcomed. MHM provides full training, a personalised development plan and reasonable travel expenses (up to £5 a day).
