Put your mechanical workshop skills to meaningful use at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Rehabilitation Engineering Technician based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford (OX3). This full‑time, fixed‑term (3 years) Band 4 role (£27,485–£30,162) supports the Oxfordshire Wheelchair Service and Specialist Disability Service by manufacturing and setting up bespoke wheelchairs, custom contoured seating and mobile arm supports. Day‑to‑day tasks include working with milled foam and Lynx sheet, operating a CNC machine, using hand and power tools, producing components and upholstery patterns, maintaining stock and assisting in clinics. Training on specific processes and equipment will be provided, and all work must meet health and safety and record‑keeping standards. Please note you must already have the right to work in the UK until October 2028; this role cannot offer visa sponsorship.

This opportunity suits practical, compassionate people — particularly women and carers who want to combine hands‑on making with direct impact on others’ independence. You’ll join a values‑driven NHS trust that emphasises respect, learning and high standards, gain new skills (including CAD/CAM and upholstery), and work closely with engineers and clinical teams to prepare equipment for clients. The role calls for good dexterity, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent mechanical training, GCSEs in English and maths (Grade C or above) and a methodical, flexible approach; a DBS check is required. If you’re motivated by tangible results and helping people live more independently, find this vacancy on jobsincare.com and click the “Apply Now” button alongside this description to submit your application.
