Based at York Hospital (YO31 8HE) with York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (LLP), this permanent Maintenance Worker role is full-time (37.5 hours) on Band 3, salary £24,937–£26,598. You will work as part of the Estates team maintaining clinical and non-clinical engineering services across Trust sites. Day-to-day duties include PAT testing, servicing thermostatic devices, fault-finding, soldering, calibration, cleaning plant rooms and workshops, and carrying out maintenance at height or in confined spaces with appropriate training and equipment provided. The post normally covers Monday–Friday day shifts but requires flexibility to travel independently between sites, so a current driving licence is essential. A DBS check is required; closing date 08 October 2025.
This vacancy will suit practical, reliable people who want hands-on work that directly supports patient care — especially carers seeking steady hours, clear training routes and an employer that values inclusivity. You should hold a Level 2 qualification (NVQ/BTEC/City & Guilds) and have experience in building services or maintenance; PAT and fire-extinguisher testing are desirable. YTHFM offers attractive NHS benefits including pension membership, 27–33 days holiday, learning and development, an employee assistance programme and a generous relocation package for hard-to-fill posts.
