Support adults and young people with mental health needs at Southampton General Hospital as a Mental Health Care Assistant on the NHS Professionals bank. In this hands‑on day‑shift role you’ll work under the supervision of psychiatrists and mental health practitioners to assist with personal care, daily activities, physical observations and paperwork, build therapeutic relationships, report concerns and use agreed de‑escalation techniques. This is a Band 2, bank position (6‑month duration) with flexible full‑ or part‑time day shifts; pay ranges from £12.51 to £22.90 per hour depending on day/shift. You must have at least 12 months’ experience as a mental health HCA in an NHS or private UK mental health hospital, hold a valid PMVA certificate, and be able to work day shifts; the post is subject to a DBS check.
